The Monkton Central School Read-a-thon is a fundraiser as well as a celebration of reading. The event is volunteer-driven and supported by the Monkton Central School Parent Teacher Organization (PTO).
March 1st launches our 7th month-long Read-a-thon! 100% of the funds raised benefit our school's children. Students and classrooms benefit from the funds raised by the PTO by sponsoring trips to the Flynn Theater, classroom field trips, providing after school enrichment opportunities, the Four Winds Nature Program, contributing towards programs such as the Artists in Residence, helping provide materials for classrooms and much more!
The Read-a-thon is not a door-to-door fundraiser of product sale, but rather is all about minutes spent reading - not the number of books, but the time students engage in reading; even time spent listening to books read aloud can count toward minutes for your child.
