What a fantastic first "week" (May 1-4th) of reading! It was very exciting to see the reading logs come in and all the wonderful minutes read by the students. A special thanks to Erin and Meredith for helping with the tallying. A reminder that if your student forgot their log on Monday, if they bring it in this coming Monday, May 12th, their minutes from Week 1 still count! We will back log their minutes.
Also, the first time students bring in their reading log, they will receive a pass to the Ben & Jerry's Factory in Waterbury. Each student will get only one pass on their first time turning in the log, whether their first time was this past week or if their "first time" is in a week ahead. Please note that students 12 and under are free at the Factory anyway, but this pass can be used for the adult who drove them or anyone else accompanying them who is older than 12 years old. We are grateful to Ben & Jerry's for donating these passes to Monkton Central students!

A reminder that the Scholastic Book Fair is happening this week and is a great opportunity for students to pick out a new book to read during the Read-a-thon!
We also wanted to share the YouTube video from Ocoee Middle School called "Gotta Keep Reading" that was shown to students on May 1st at the Read-a-thon Kick Off during School Meeting. Let's keep on reading!
